Terms of service

The terms that apply when you use License Ready's short-term rental licensing service.

Draft: not yet reviewed by a lawyer. This page describes our current practice in plain language and will be replaced once counsel signs off.

What the service is

We check your address and situation against the published rules, guide you through a licensing application, review your documents with an automated pre-check followed by a person, prepare and file your paperwork, and track renewal dates.

Our flat service fee covers our own work. Government fees -- application fees, annual registration or licence fees, and any other provincial or municipal charge -- are set by the City of Kelowna and the Province of British Columbia and are always shown and charged separately from our service fee.

What we don't decide

Eligibility and licensing decisions are made by the City of Kelowna and the Province of British Columbia, not by us. Our eligibility check and our automated document pre-check are our best reading of the published rules and a helpful early signal -- they are not an official assessment and are not a promise of a particular outcome.

Refunds

See our refund policy for the specific rule: broadly, if you turn out to be ineligible before we begin preparation work on your application, our service fee is refunded. Government fees already paid to the City or Province are not refundable by us.

Your responsibilities

You're responsible for giving us accurate information and genuine documents, for responding to requests promptly -- including any official notice with a response deadline, such as the Province's eight-day Notice of Consideration window -- and for continuing to meet the operating rules that apply to your licence once it's issued.

Changes

Rules, fees, timelines and required documents can change after we publish them. We keep our published rules under regular review and note when each one was last checked; if something changes after your application is underway, we'll tell you what it means for your file.
