Eligibility
Principal-residence requirement
Principal-residence requirement applies in municipalities of 10,000+ unless exempt. Kelowna is exempt since 2026-06-01.

Duties
PST and MRDT on STR accommodation
PST 8% and Kelowna MRDT 3% on STR accommodation; platforms collect and remit for in-platform bookings; direct bookings require the host's own registration.

Deadlines
Renewal window
Renewal window opens 40 days before expiry; reminders at 40, 14 and 1 day.

Notice of Consideration response window
A Notice of Consideration for missing information allows 8 days from the email date to respond or the application may be refused, cancelled or suspended.

Penalties
Administrative penalties
Administrative penalties up to $5,000/day (individual) and $10,000/day (corporation); listings can be removed from platforms.
